Well folks, the 2024 Donegal County Championships are just around the corner. This year sees their return on Friday the 5th to Sunday the 7th of April. Here is some information and a few things to be aware of.
The county championships this year will see a change of venue and are to be held at the Radisson hotel, Letterkenny.
Because of the success and the support that the championships have had the past few years, it was time to make the decision to move to a bigger venue. We will have 12 tables this year and we hope to see similar if not greater numbers across the board.
Please be aware that only players eligible to play for Donegal will be allowed to enter the County Championships.
This year will see a return of all the main sections:
Friday, April 5th:
Under 23’s.
Over 40’s.
Saturday, April 6th:
Team Competition.
Sunday, April 7th:
Ladies.
Men’s/Open.
Entry fees:
€230 per team to be made up of 4 players plus one sub. Team members to be submitted and agreed by DPA committee before entry is accepted. All team members will be automatically entered into the main singles event on the Sunday inclusive as part of the entry fee. A teams are open teams. B teams are to be made up of a maximum of one B player included in the team. No A standard players are permitted in the B section.
€50 fee for entry to the main event for those not playing on a team.
€30 fee for entry to the U23/O40 & Ladies events.
We are pleased to offer an online payment option this year, it can be found on the Donegal Pool Association website under Entry&Fees or alternatively you can click here… https://donegalpoolassociation.com/shop/ The option to pay in cash at the club is also still available if preferred.
The closing date for all entries is midnight on Sunday the 24th of March. This means your team lists and payments must be in by that date.
There is a strict dress code in place this year consisting of black dress trousers, dress shoes and polo shirts. Teams must have matching polo shirts for team events. There will be a loss of one frame per match for incorrect dress.
Above all we really hope that all players enjoy the championships. The committee is working hard to bring the very best event we can to you all. That said, if any members would like to put their names down we will have a volunteer list open. We obviously want to give you all the smoothest event possible and volunteers will help the committee to keep things flowing, give players info and keep tables match ready.
